More College B-Ball Discussion

Something zackmann mentioned in his post about the Tigers got me thinking.

There were 5 teams from Tennessee that made the tourney:  Memphis, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Belmont, and Austin Peay.  More than any other single state.

How cool is it that 5 of the teams came from the Titans' state?

Going further, it appears at the moment that the South is also more heavily represented than any other region of the country.  Besides 5 from TN, you've got:

-3 from Kentucky (Kentucky, Louisville, Western KY)
-3 from North Carolina (UNC, Duke, Davidson)
-1 from Alabama (South Alabama)
-1 from Arkansas (Arkansas)
-1 from Georgia (Georgia)
-3 from Texas (Texas A&M, Texas, TX Arlington)
-1 from Virginia (George Mason)
-2 from South Carolina (Winthrop, Clemson)
-1 from Florida (Miami)
-2 from Mississippi (Mississippi Valley State, MS State)
-2 from Washington, DC (American, Georgetown)

All in all, 25 out of 65. 38% of the teams from 24% of the US.

So is the South cooler?  Better at BBall? Or am I just a numbers geek?
