Titans and Cowboys in Preliminary Trade Talks for Pacman Jones

This is awesome.  Apparently there are multiple NFL teams that are interested in Pacman Jones.  ESPN is reporting that the Titans and the Cowboys have already started trade talks.  John Clayton said on SportsCenter this morning that he thinks Pacman will be reinstated before the draft.

You can say what you want about his ability to play and how you feel about what he has done, but I think you are being foolish if you think he is ever going to play for the Titans again.  Plus, he has made it clear that he doesn't want to be here.  He was divisive in the locker room before.  Can you imagine what he would be like when he obviously wants out.  His disruption to the team chemistry would far outweight any performance on the field.

It is time for the Titans to cut ties.  The multiple teams thing is exciting because maybe the Titans can get a decent pick out of him.  If they hold on to him it just going to get ugly, and the Titans will end up losing him for nothing at the end of his contract.

By the way, good luck to him if he goes to Detroit.  Walk around a strip club there making death threats and someone will probably just take care of him.

He's such a waste...
He was a perennial pro bowler and an exciting athlete to watch. But if Pacman starts chomping the hands that feed him, it's time to let him go.

Good riddance.

Go Titans!

on espn
they were saying we would only get a day-two draft pick for him. i hope they were wrong.

The key is
to get more than one or two teams bidding against each other, and that will probably only happen once the commish reinstates him.  That's the only way we'll drive up the price.

I'd love for us to end-up packaging Pac and a few 3rd round and later picks to snag Dallas' second 1st rounder... oh where would we be without wishful thinking.

I really hope
He goes to an NFC team.  It would be the worst possible ending to this saga if he comes back to burn us on a huge kick return or something like that in the playoffs.

not me
I hope he goes to an AFC South team. That way, we'll see him twice a year, so there will be no chance of him making a big play against us in the super bowl because he will have gotten whooped by Haynesworth for running his mouth. That's my logic lol.

by kpocyclo on Mar 22, 2008 2:38 PM CDT up reply actions

have to get a first day pick
I dont care what kind of problem he is/could be. With his talent we cannot afford to give him up for a second day pick. Just like last year...no way Randy Moss should have been traded for a fourth rounder.

by DonFrancisco on Mar 22, 2008 2:53 PM CDT reply actions

If he is
reinstated before the draft we should get a pick in the top 4 rounds. If he is actually allowed on the field he is worth a ton.

Isn't the 1st day in this years draft a 1st or 2nd? I thought they changed the format.

you're right..
rounds 1 and 2 on day one (starting in the afternoon), the rest will be day 2

Matt Millen has been hitting the Jesus Juice -
Here's how it goes down - Adam Jones & our 2nd & 3rd round pick goes to Detroit for One Mister Roy Eugene Williams, Jr., making us the first Club in history to field 4 wide outs with the same last name.

are you thinking Mike is gonna make the team?

by Titans Fan 10 on Mar 23, 2008 3:28 PM CDT reply actions

Yup
Norm was the only reason he was really given a chance in the first place.  Barring an offseason miracle transformation, i don't see any chance we keep him around

so
its awesome we loose the 6th player chosen in the draft?  the first defensive player chosen in that draft?  we trade the 6th pick in the draft for a 4th rounder thats awesome?   we just toss our first round draft pick from that year out the window, thats awesome?
we loose a great return man,  we loose a shut down cornor thats awasome?  all because your morals say todo so?

Don't forget...
dentureboy, that the typical Titans fan on this board values christian morals, fair play, teamwork, community service, and being a good role model well above and beyond the ability to win championships.  Let Dallas win the Lombardi, their celebration will somehow be tainted...

(p.s. this argument is an uphill battle, trust me.)

Disgust
I am getting seriously offended by your comments, sir. How about we just stick to talking about football instead of bashing Christian morals?

Why are you wasting time here anyway? Should'nt you be busy posting comments on the Tennessean or something?

by theologic on Mar 24, 2008 6:52 AM CDT up reply actions

this has nothing to do with religion
and everything to do with decency.  I'm not a Christian in the slightest, but I still believe in the decency and accountability.  I'm not asking Titan's players to be saints, but I do expect the organization to hold players responsible for their behavior (especially when it REGULARLY involves violence, especially violence towards women, drugs and extreme douchebaggery)

Plus if you think one overrated cock-knocker of a DB is the difference between winning a Super Bowl, then you don't know a damned thing about the NFL.  It takes 53 players to win: by your definition the Giants shouldn't have won after Shockey went down.  In fact the Giants proved that getting a distraction out of the way helps the entire team.

ADDITIONALLY, since you knuckle-draggers need another piece of evidence, THE DOUCHECANOE WANTS TO BE TRADED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Many if not most people want him gone + He wants to leave = ship his *ss to the highest bidder.

Bang. You lose.

um, no.
It has nothing to do with Christian moral values.  And for the record, not that I think it matters, I'm not a Christian.

It has everything to do with a continued lack of respect for the law.

Yes, other players have gotten in trouble, and the fans here have given them another chance.  But the number of chances given is not infinite, and at some point you have to draw a line and say "enough."

#32 isn't on his second chance.  In fact, he's already used up his third, fourth, and fifth chances as well.  The man doesn't know how to stay out of trouble, and I would rather see him implode somewhere else while we can still get some value out of him.

by hartley on Mar 24, 2008 12:13 PM CDT up reply actions

everything to do with football
pac is a great cornerback, return man, energizer, when hes on the field, but the point is that hes such an idiot that he cant keep his ass out of trouble and therefore is never on the field.
6th rounder is better than nothing, and nothing is what we are getting from pac.

Beans...

Morals aside,
trading him now makes no sense, especially if it were to the cowboys or patriots.  His trade value is at an all time low, and the only reason to go ahead with a trade would be if we were desperate.  I don't know about you, but I'm not particularly desperate for a 4th round pick if it means making one of the two most dangerous teams in the nfl even better.  The ultimate goal is to win an nfl championship and I'd rather do without the 4th rounder than have Pacman playing pro bowl calibre ball for the cowboys or patriots.  As to him being a locker room disruption if he stays: suspend him.  The NFLPA president's in that same locker room.  Whose gonna stick up for #32?  I really don't think we should be doing him any favors here.  He wants to go to Dallas and be Deion Mach 2?  Screw him.  Let him prove he still wants to play by staying out of trouble and raising his trade value.  Really, morals aside, keeping him is a no lose situation for the Titans.  Worst case scenario, he gets in legal trouble again, Goodell kicks him out for good -- all we've lost is a 4th rounder and I'm really not sweating it.  Or he stays out of trouble and we trade him for something more significant.

by rob @ Music City Miracles on Mar 24, 2008 4:29 PM CDT up reply actions

that's all nice and good,
but he doesn't want to be here!  You want Pacman with a WORSE attitude in that locker room?

I'm glad everyone else thinks he'll go somewhere else and blossom into the next Deion, but that's an insult to Deion (who was one of the all-time great DBs): for all of Pac's potential, ***he has more games suspended than INTs or passes defensed in the NFL.***

I expect that trend to continue ∞.

But can we not do a
Tampa Bay/Keyshawn Johnson and just keep him and not let him play?  Or does that take up a roster spot?  Does anyone know?

unfortunately, no.
It's an instant lawsuit from the NFLPA.  The last CBA included a provision that prevented teams from deactivating a player without injury/discipline reasons in direct reaction to what happened with Johnson in Tampa and Owens in Philly.

Got it
Makes sense.

But that's a shame.  At least that way we wouldn't have to watch him with someone else.

Seriously
if Pac is such a great DB and asset to the team, why did our defence go from 30th with him, to top 5 without him?
