Do You Watch Friday Night Lights?

This is a call to arms. If you haven't watched this show please do so tonight. It is one of the top 5 shows on TV right now, and it is in jeopardy of getting cut because no one is watching it. I know that it is partially NBC's fault for putting it on the wasteland of TV that is Friday night, but that is no excuse for people not to watch it.

Here are 3 reasons why you should watch it:

It is about football. That should be enough.
It shows the love affair that a small Texas town has with it's high school football team. Is it exaggerated? Sure, but I bet it is closer than you might think.
The marriage between Coach Taylor, Kyle Chandler, and his wife, Connie Britton, is one we can all learn from. Their interaction is classic.

I promise that you will not be dissapointed if you watch this show. I know you probably have other plans on a Friday night, so set you DVR or TiVo to record it and watch it over the weekend. You can also watch all of the past episodes by clicking here. Give it a chance. There is so much crap on TV today that it would be a travishamockery if this show were to get cancelled. Careful though, you will find yourself wishing you were as cool as Tim Riggins the more you watch.

A Noble Cause

To try to get people to save a show, but as a fan of a show that got canceled (Studio 60), it turns out that DVR'ing does NOT get counted in the ratings at all, because ratings are for the benefit of sponsors, and they are assuming if you are DVR'ing a show, you aren't going to watch the commercials.

Although, if DVRing could serve to get people to start watching the shows live later on, that'd be cool.

It's sad, but the more affluent households generally embrace new technology faster and thus are more likely to DVR shows, but the problem being that the shows that they want to watch get the shaft because of antiquated business practices and standards.

i tried and can't

and we even make it a point to watch Las Vegas on after it at 9pm....

we tried to watch Friday Night Lights. In high school I read the book, and of course enjoyed it.

but the show is too hard to watch. I can't get myself to buy into the storylines. I get dizzy watching the bouncing, not-steady camera action (I call it the MTV camera style).

i don't wish it to get canceled though...maybe NBC can find the right day and time slot for it...

I confess that I was reading...

...BURNT OFFERINGS, the seventh Anita Blake book last night. My wife watched pregnant Jennifer Love Hewitt in GHOST WHISPERER. Now that's a dumb show if ever I saw one.

I've tried FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS before, but I have to agree with Zackman. I couldn't get into it. I felt like I was the wrong viewing demographic.

great show

This show is so underrated. I watch it every friday night. I wish we had Smash as a RB. I would let Coach Taylor be our Offensive Coordinator. He won a state championship. He knows how to move the ball. LOL
