NFL Strength of Schedule
This really means nothing in the NFL, but it is a very interesting table that our friend mgrex03 put together. *Note* It is at Stampede Blue. If you are going to go over there please play nice.

Interesting
It shows we’ve played a fairly easy schedule. I don’t think anyone here would deny that.

Jimmy kinda would, especially after seeing this: http://www.musiccitymiracles.com/2008/12/3/678534/tennessee-titans-morning-l

BTW
Not posting that to flame, but I remember reading Jimmy’s comment in that post and thinking “He can’t possibly think the Titans have played a tough schedule.”

Huh?
I posted that link and Jimmy didn’t comment. I didn’t realize the info they were using was from before the beginning of the season… believe me, had I been absolutely sure in that page I would have posted as the first link in that edition.

Appreciate the link
Just curious, why do you think strength of schedule means nothing in the NFL? I think it is pretty meaningful, as you don’t play every team in the league.
If it is because it has no impact on the results, I agree with you. Although there is a potential it could matter, as it is a tie-breaker.

I don't think it is important
because you still have to play the games.
It is good for discussion and arguing about who is better because they have played a tougher schedule.
Unlike college where it makes all the difference in the world.

We are in agreement then
I assumed that is what you meant, as I’m sure you feel beating the Titans is tougher than beating the Lions.

The Lions are TOUGH man--watch out!

I think the Strength of Schedule thing ignores the obvious:
A lot of good teams look like they are playing a lot of bad teams because they beat the crap out of the teams they play. And the reverse is true as well: EVERYONE looks like a world-beater when they play the Lions.

I clicked the link.
I just didn’t think it was all that profound. It seems like a self-fulfilling prophecy to me.

OK, confused.
I just bragged to everyone in the office that we played a fairly tough schedule based on our opponent’s wins/loses.
Now I am seeing that we played an easy schedule…. which is what I’ve thought all along until the other day when I read a post on here. lol.
So, someone translate the graph for you buddy here. When I go back to the boss, I’ll say: “The Titans have a ____ schedule this year”

Schedule
Any analysis suggesting the titans have played a tough schedule this year is based on win-loss records from 2007, not 2008.

Right.
It looked tough before the season began, because we had to face 2007 playoff teams like the Browns and Packers. And because all the “experts” thought that 2008 would be the year that the Jaguars and Texans would contend for the division.
After playing out most of the season? It turns out the Browns, Packers, Jags, and Texans weren’t all that after all.
