Tennessee Titans Morning Links: Brett Favre, Man-Crushes and Tanya Harding Edition
This is the funniest thing I've seen all year: Mapquest directions to Mercury Morris' famed 'neighborhood'! (Note: go here first if that didn't make sense.)
Boom King is a go against the Jets! Now we just have to make sure Peter King doesn't go Tanya Harding on him around the facility this week to protect Favre...
When we start out slow against the Jets, just remember that the Titans have been tied or behind at halftime in 4 of the last 6 games.
Highest ranking MCM power ranker BigW and I heart KSK so, so much.
USA Today has a list of all the previous teams to start at least 9-0 and what happened to them.
I don't like any video on 'Who Could Beat the Titans' that starts with an ad featuring Brian Billick.
Special Programing Note: We now follow the ESPN Man-Crushes for Kerry Collins that have sprung-up from the middle of nowhere today:
Listing the biggest games of Collins' career in college and the pros.
One of the back page writers in the game, Rick Reilly, explains why he loves Kerry Collins:
This is why I like Kerry Collins. Whether he plays like Fran Tarkenton or Fran Drescher, he never makes excuses.
Paul Kuharsky gives the world a heavy dose of Kerry Collins: Debating the battle of the graybeards, Favre and Collins have combined for 57 miles passing over their careers and the QB spot is just the beginning of proving how free agency has been a boon for both the Titans and Jets.
There's a whole lot of internet out there, so if you have a link you'd like to submit for tomorrow's Morning Links, email me at mcmaugustwest@gmail.com! (Be sure to include your commenting handle so I can give you semi-anonymous credit.)

As a PSU fan
I’m really happy Collins is receiving so much attention. He messed up for a little while but now he’s on the right track and hopefully he’ll lead the Titans to the promised land.

Another comment from me. Can you tell I'm alive?
It really sucks that the ad on the main page from NFLshop.com is trying to sell us a Favre jersey. heh

Has all of the flex scheduling been done?
Or do they decide week to week.

Excellent. I love night games.
Surely we will get one—I would bet on the Steeler game if this season keeps playing out like it has. Home games I mean.

Word on the local radio yesterday was that CBS and Fox get to protect 1 game each week
and the Steelers game is almost guaranteed to be the one CBS wants that week.

More official sounding words
NBC Sunday Night Football has the option of changing one scheduled game from Sunday afternoon to Sunday night during weeks 11 through 17 of the NFL football season.
Fox and CBS are able to protect 5 of their games for weeks 11 through 16, but no games can be locked in the final weekend.
Only three teams can appear 6 times in primetime on NBC, ESPN or NFL Network throughout the course of the season, and the remaining teams can only appear 5 times in primetime. No team is able to appear on NBC Sunday Night Football more than 4 times in one season.
NBC Sports must make their decision about any flex schedule changes 12 days in advance of the scheduled game for weeks 11 through 16, and they are able to decide 6 days in advance of the final game on week 17.
Once the 2008 NBC Sunday Night Schedule is announced, a chart will appear below indicating the running count of scheduled primetime appearances for each team, and indications of which games are available for Flexing during weeks 11 through 17. Towards the middle of the season, after FOX and CBS make their selection about the games which will be protected, the chart will be updated and the week-to-week speculation will begin!

PRO BOWL!
I’ve voted for Kerry Collins, Lendale and Chris Johnson about 30 times each over the past 2 days. I plan on continuing until the voting ends. It’s kind of a personal mission.

Okay, I can agree with CJ, but do LenDale and KC really deserve Pro Bowl spots?
Not to be an anti-homer, but KC has yet to throw for 300 yards, and LenDale has had exactly one 100-yard game. I mean, I like the Titans and all, but there are more deserving guys, both on the team and in the AFC in general.
On the team, I would vote everyone on the O-Line (but especially Mawae and Roos), Big Al, Bo Scaife (not even on the ballot!), Thorton and Bullock, and the entire starting secondary above both KC and especially LenDale.

Oh, and A. Hall.
Though I think he might be justifiably behind L. McClain from Baltimore. McClain is having a real stand-out year IMHO.

Nothing wrong with being a homer
It sort of makes up for the many seasons that Titans weren’t even considered, despite their achievements.

100% agreed.
The year we made it to the playoffs with no Pro Bowlers it wasn’t because no one was deserving (esp. Keith Bulluck), it was because nobody was watching us.
