This is looking like it is going to be the best game of the season so far. The Jets are very tough against the run so we could be looking at another game that is going to be won or loss by Kerry Collins. I don't know about you, but I feel a lot better about the odds of the Titans winning that type of game than I did 3 weeks ago.
The key for the defense will be to pressure Brett Favre. We all know that he is capable of making big plays for either team, and the way to get him to get him to be the bad "Gunslinger" is to get guys in his face. I really hope Kyle Vanden Bosch can get back on the field for this game.

Im really nervous
about this game. This is the best team we’ve played all season by a landslide. At least 5 days later we have the 0-10 Lions!

Has anybody heard anything about KVB palying this week?

Last I saw, he said...
…that he feels like he’s had enough rest, and so now he’s got to try to go and potentially work through the pain if necessary. I have no idea if that means that he’s healed and has scar tissue, which would suck for him but not be a big deal, or that he has a lasting injury that will eventually need surgery but won’t get worse before the end of the season.

I think it means...
…he’s tired of sitting around not getting to play. I was listening to him on a radio show last week and he said something to the effect of “I’m going to punch the next person that tells me ’There’s a lot more football left to play.’”
You better believe that guy wants to be on the field.
If I hit a hole-in-one on this grand slam the dominoes will fall like a house of cards. Checkmate.

Nothing to be nervous about!
Brett and the Jets are walking into our house. Harper should be back; we have a hard-hitting, ball-hawking secondary that can get the job done.
Brett’s gonna have a long day against our pass rush, especially if KVB comes back.
The Jets are not as good as advertised… case in point – the Jets have lost to Oakland, barely squeaked by KC, got blown out by San Diego and split their series with NE. The St-Louis blowout means nothing; St-Louis would lose to an arena league team. The NE overtime win? Nice win, and nice game for Favre, but teams that beat the 2008 Patriots don’t impress me very much, what with their geriatric defense and all.
Brett has 18 touchdowns and 12 Interceptions. Let’s take away that Arizona shootout that was really a statistical aberration… and you end up with 12 TDs and 11 picks. Media’s talking about how they have gotten hot lately… sure, last two games Brett has had QB ratings above 100; but let’s not forget that one of those games was against the Rams.
My guess is that this week, against a top 5 defense, Brett’s gonna toss up a real stinker. 2 picks and one TD.
When you dig into the numbers, they’re just not that scary. Lay the 5 points or whatever your bookie is quoting you, and take that to the bank.

I can buy Brett having a bad day
Our secondary is one of the best in the league (I can’t believe I’m saying that about a Titans team). Pass pressure is also usually very good, although with KVB out it has been less good.
But, I have a much bigger matchup concern: Our punt/kickoff coverage team vs. the Jets extremely good return team (2nd in the league in punt return yards per game, 5th in kickoff yards per game). I cannot find stats for coverage teams, but I bet the Titans are in the bottom third. We have the occasional nice tackle (Griffin recently for example) but on the whole I think our coverage special team is the worst unit we field.
On the whole, I’m betting this is an exciting one with the Jets getting more than our D normally gives up. I think our offense has to put up in the high 20s to win this one, but we’ll see!

For what it's worth...
As it says above the Jets score 28.9 and give up 22.1. We score 24.4 and give up 13.1.
The teams that have played us have averaged scoring 21.4 and have given up 23.1. So, teams score 8.3 points less than their average against the Titans and give up 1.3 points more points.
The teams that have played the Jets have averaged scoring 19.8 and have given up 23.3. So, teams score 2.3 points more than their average against the Jets and give up 5.6 more points.
So I think we will give up more than 13 points to the Jets but I also think we will put up more than 24.4. My pick is 27 to 17 Titans.

No way the Jets put up 2 TDs on us, IMO...
book it, as they say.

Yeah they will, but the 2 TDs will be offset by the 4 INTs.
2 Finnegan, 1 Hope and 1 Bullock. Take it to the bank.

I don't see it.
The Titans excel at shutting down first and second receivers and running games. Okay, truth to tell, I like the Jets’ chances for getting about 90 yards on the ground this week. But do they have a viable 3rd WR? Because if Favre tries to go to Finnegan’s side more than about five times all game, he’s gonna come out with at least one pick-6.

The Jags
Got two TDs on us. I can see the Jets doing that. However, I think that’s the maximum. Especially if we can limit the penalties.

That's true.
But personally, I would like the Jags—even in their current beat-up position—over ANY team in the AFC East.

I think
they’ll run a kickoff or a punt all the way to a TD on us once, or get such a short field that they get a gimme score. I’m guessing 31 to 24 Titans.

jets passing defense is awful
especially awful against the pass to TE and RB. i like that matchup big time. scaife and cj could see big receiving numbers. also favre gets sacked 6.5% of drop backs to kc’s 3%. and the other major titans advantage is turnovers. favre is a turnover machine, and i hope the boys in the secondary are ready to pick a few off. 3 would be about right it think.

Brett throws 3 picks
The Jets O-line gives up 4 sacks and the Jets running game gains 80 yards
Final Score Titans 24 Jets 10
