UPDATED (again): How the Titans can lose the AFC South

It's still possible though the road is unlikely. Here are the scenarios.

  1. Titans lose 4, Colts win out
  2. Titans lose out, Colts win 4

It takes two more Titans wins (or two Colts losses, or one of each) to seal the AFC South. Assuming a win against the Lions (not a big leap) the Titans will have to drop 3 for 4 (with one of the 3 being to the Texans) to not win the AFC South

Yeah, honestly.

I think the wildcard is a big enough challenge for you guys. Focus on that.

some people were curious so I researched it and wrote it up

I though you guys would like to know exactly how much margin for error you had.

I don't believe it's happening

if you look at Stampede Blue right after the win against the Steelers the first thing I posted was the new wildcard standings. If anything posting this at Stampede Blue has made the Colts fans (including myself after noticing common opponents would be the tiebreaker not conference record) less hopeful.

I had the DVOA ratings and their playoff odds already pulled up

for the post I’m writing now and because I have no attention span I checked back in this thread while doing it.

Sounds like

something that Fantastic Four villain the Mad Thinker would come up with. “There’s a 3% probability of reed richards coming around the corner in the next ten minutes…”

hmmm. dating myself.

Since you guys liked it last week

Football Outsiders now puts the Titans as over 8 times more likely to go undefeated than to lose the division

Thanks Shake

I think I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say. The TITANS WILL NOT LOSE THE DIVISION. Keep in mind we play the Lions, Browns, and Texans…………… heh

I realize that’s a jinx thing to say but at this point……

So..

So lets say we win the next two, can we already celebrate an AFC south win?

why wait?

celebrate now, the division is on lock down.

odds on titans perfect season

has anyone seen odds on the titans going 16-0 on any sportsbooks?

or odds on detroit going 0-16?

i haven’t been able to find these bets anywhere. i took the bet at 10/1 with a couple friends, but i just made that up.

i see detroit as 5/1, considering their remaining schedule:

@tb, ten, min, @ind, no, gb

My favorite non-FO stat geek

puts the chances at 9% for 16-0 and 33% at 0-16

FO says 7.6% and 30.7%

Too many variables

to really handicap our chances at going undefeated. I don’t even want to attempt that. 6 games with injuries plus factoring in our opponents and then the fact that we’ll have the division wrapped up early…….

I don’t mind if we don’t go undefeated. It’d be a nice sidebar and a way to get rid of watching Mercury Morris every season but ultimately I just want a championship.

but if a team goes 16-0

it then MUST go 19-0 to avoid being served a huge turd sandwich for the rest of the offseason. i watched last years super bowl with mostly pats fans, and when they lost, it was seriously like a death in the family. i don’t want that. i don’t want to feel like crap over a 17-1 or 18-1 season. it cannot be explained how gloomy boston was for a few weeks after the super bowl.

by hal41605 on Nov 19, 2008 10:00 AM CST up reply actions

absolutely

it may not be logical, but I would much rather go 15-1 and not win the superbowl than 16-0 and not win the superbowl. It’s better to finally find out you aren’t the perfect “all that” team of the century in a game that means less than the big one.

by numbertenox on Nov 19, 2008 12:57 PM CST up reply actions

if we did go 18-1, would that make us the Giant Douche?
