Week 8 NFL Power Rankings: Finally Time to Look Ahead to MNF Edition
Well it's been a long hard fought battle but we are finally a unanimous #1 in the Power Rankings. I'm assuming that Fish and Adrian Hasenmeyer must have buried the hatchet? If you will be at the game on Monday night please leave a message in the comments and we'll hook up for a pregame beverage!
[Note from Jimmy] Thanks as always to BigW.
NFL.com
If you don't love this comment from Vic Carucci you don't love Titans football.
"In every way, the Titans are playing like the best team in the league."
ESPN.com
ESPN keeps us at #1 and PK is impressed with our KC win
"A resounding win in Kansas City sets the table for the Titans to show off on "Monday Night Football," when a win over the Colts would make it nearly impossible for Indy to win a sixth straight division title."
FOXSPORTS.com
Finally Hasenmeyer hops on the Titans bandwagon and bumps us up to #1!
"Still no wins against teams with winning records, but still no losses ... period. This week's Monday nighter will raise some eyebrows for the curiosity factor to see if the Titans can beat a "legitimate" team. But the way the Colts have played this season, maybe this is not the true test after all. Looking ahead, the Titans only face two more tough running defenses the rest of the way. Translation: Pencil this team in for the AFC South title."
CBSSPORTSLINE.com
Pete Prisco keeps us at #1 and writes a nice piece on our boys in the forward as well.
"They can take a firm grip of the division title with a victory over the Colts next Monday night. The way they are running it might make for a long night for the Colts."
COVERS.com
Vegas finally moves us up to the #1 slot. Not exactly a compliment in the notes though......
"Early dominance over inferior squads. Combined records of teams the Titans have beaten is 12-26."
Sports Illustrated
Dr. Z keeps us at #1 and defends our boys against the talking heads.....
"Maintaining their status as Queen of the Nile, the lordly Titans cruise along and wait for their first loss. On the squawk shows, I hear complaints that an unbeaten team should present better credentials, particularly at the QB position. "They'll get theirs".... "they'll be tested," and the rest of the blah blah. By whom? On the horizon is Indy, with that soft defense, at home in a Monday nighter, and then...ah, this might be a pair to circle. Unpredictable Packers at home, roughneck Bears on the road. But one never knows what's going to happen in the course of a season, does one?"

Still sitting on top! Love the taco bar comment! HAH!
Last week: The Titans invaded once-intimidating Arrowhead Stadium and stomped on Kansas City, 34-10.
Cold, Hard Football Facts: The previous franchise record for rushing yards in a game was 296, set in 1977 when the team was still the Houston Oilers. Their opponent? The Chiefs.
Week 8 matchup: vs. Indianapolis on Monday night. LenDale White looked like he was racing to the all-you-can-eat taco bar during his 80-yard TD run against Kansas City. He and backfield-mate Chris Johnson must be licking their chops again as they prepare to face a Colts run defense that surrenders 153.5 YPG (28th).

PK is a chump
I intentionally omit him. Dr. Z is 10 times the writer PK is.

Florio finally pulled his head from that might crater on his posterior and posted his Power Rankings as well:

I've finally come to the realization that there is NOTHING that the Titans can do...
…to win over the pundits. The pundits like to analyze QB play a lot more because it is easier to analyze, and they like to talk about major market teams because that is what gets the ratings.
Trent Dilfer be damned! It is IMPOSSIBLE to win a Superbowl without having Tom Brady or a member of the Manning family as your quarterback.

to be fair
we aren’t exactly ignored. we are getting love from ALOT of pundits as well. people throwing out “best defense”, chris johnson a favorite for OROY everywhere you look, albert on top free agent and DPOY columns.
and i’m glad there are non believers. it’s cool to be the anti-patriots this year.

That's true, but it's a grudging respect.
Like, “I don’t want to admit this, but now I have to.”
Still, it would be worse to be the Bills.
That said, here’s the question: When we meet the Bills in the playoffs, how many times will they show the replay of the Music City Miracle?

No matter how many times they show it
it can never be enough. Now the inverse of that would be if the earth tilted off it’s axis and we met the Rams in the Super Bowl. They would show a certain enough times then to force me to swallow a box full of nails.

Funny, I thought about that earlier today.
They’ll show it about 8 million times, with lots of pundits going on and on about how the Bills will be “seeking revenge” or some such nonsense, even though there are less than a handful of players on either team who played in that game.
It was one of the best plays ever, though.

Where are the pregame beverages being consumed?
Inside at one of the endzones? Or is there a tailgate outside the entrance?
by Cajuncub on Oct 22, 2008 4:27 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
Not a definite site yet. I'll be tailgating across the street from the stadium
so we can do it there or inside. Doesn’t matter to me.

Flexible here to meet
Our usual tailgate crew can’t get it set up this time due to work issues so it would be great to meet a few MCM folks before the game.

I hear a lot of praise on the NFL Network regarding the Titans
It is well deserved, the team has worked hard . Besides Johnson, Finnegan is probably the most exciting player on the team to watch. I almost hurt when he tackles someone.
I am a humble fan, a great humble fan.
