Titans to Possibly Wear Oilers Throwback Uniform Next Season

I've been discussing this with some of the guys over on Battle Red Blog this week, and I thought I would mention it over here, since it hasn't been yet:

The Titans (read: Bud Adams) are considering wearing Oilers jerseys for one game next year.

I personally think it's a horrible idea, because I don't believe that any of that history belongs to this team, it belongs to the people of Houston.

But I understand that Bud Adams is a dick who likes ticking the people of Houston off. Actually, given that, I'm somewhat surprised he doesn't want to wear the Oilers jerseys against the Texans.

Instead, he wants to wear them against the "original" Titans - the New York Jets, who would also be wearing throwbacks in the same game.

Houston or Tenneesse Oilers

their jerseys did change when they came to TN. The oil rig on the helmet had the three stars in it. So I like the idea.

But I was an Oiler fan not from Houston. So I am not bitter, and I used to love those uniforms.

I like the idea

I was actually wondering if the Jets were going to wear their throwbacks against us. Titans v Titans, what-have-you.

As for who the history belongs to. It belongs to Mr. Adams.

I sat through two seasons of Tennessee Oilers games at Vanderbilt, and I’d like to see how the old-school uniforms look on the new team.

I hate the throwback uniforms anytime....

I’ve not seen a throwback uniform anybody wears. They all look like crap. If they are going to wear a throwback uniform, why don’t they make ’em wear a leather helmet and hightop shoes while they are at it? Sickening!!!

I like it.

Leather helmets and no facemasks! And also those thin fabric pads that were sewn into their jerseys. And then see if Troy Polamalu wants to bitch about flag football.

Well, I've not been too crazy about thowbacks..

but The Titans were the Tennessee Oilers for a while. So the jerseys are technically Tennessee. Although They are also Houston Jerseys too, so I guess they can really be either one.

I love those light blue jerseys

That’s what they wore when I fell in love with the team! I still have one hanging in my closet. However, the light blue couldn’t be worn against the Jets in their ‘Titans’ jersey’s because one team has to wear white…or a definite contrasting color….i’m sure the NFL would deem those uniforms too similar…..and, i’m sure that bud would want them for a home game, not away.
