VY Practices
This is really a moot point given what our 36 year old field general has been able to accomplish the last few weeks but at any rate VY was back on the practice field today according to Mike "I love rumors" Florio.
In unrelated news Mike Florio may in all actuality be a woman. Otherwise how could he be so adept as spreading rumor right? Sad that we have to put up with such nonsense to get the latest and greatest NFL news.

In other news...
Collins has had a taste of the good life and says he aint goin back:

This could get interesting.
Yup
That’s major news.
So either KC is our starter next year or the Titans give the keys back to VY and lock in another backup. Wonder if Chris is content to be a backup.
I’m glad KC is making these noises now instead of towards the end of the season – gives everybody plenty of time to sort things out.
Somebody needs to tell Collins that...
he is not the reason we are winning. If he feels he can be equally successful outside of the Titans then we should let him go. Let him find out if he can be protected as well as how our offensive line protect him. Let him find out if he can find an OC who will give him the plays that will take advantage of his strengths and go around his weaknesses.
Somebody needs to tell him he is in a good situation in Tennessee whether he is starter while VY heals up or as a backup.
Go Titans!
I don't think that's fair.
The guy is playing well enough to be an NFL starter, and he knows it. We can argue about whether or not he is an upgrade over VY, but he would CERTAINLY be an upgrade on a bunch of other teams. Like Chicago. Or Minnesota. Or Miami. Or Arizona. Kansas City. Maybe even Tampa Bay.
Lots of places have decent teams but need a talented game-manager QB. Chicago is the most obvious, but there are certainly others.

Yes it's not fair...
but Collins has to know that VY will start again whether he likes it or not. If he can’t accept to be a backup once again then he needs to move somewhere else where they will need his game management skills.
Go Titans!
you can throw in the 49ers, Texans, maybe the Rams
Kerry should have options. He’s old, but he’s also 100% healthy and (unless something changes) will have been for 3 years by the time he hits the market.

I think he will have options but..
I don’t see them as going somewhere else and starting. Most of the teams you have both mentioned don’t have a great defense and a solid running attack to support the qb. He is doing the job we brought him in to do but I wouldn’t crown him just yet. (shout out to Denny Green) He is managing games and we still have not asked him to win a game for us just yet. I think it was 2 pass attempts he had in the 4th quarter of 2 or 3 games? He will still be 36 next year and I’m not sure if these teams would want to put the team on an elder qb’s shoulders. (Brett Favre being the exception)
But they will give a team to Gus Frerotte, Brian Griese, Damon Huard and JT O'Sullivan?
There aren’t a lot of good options right now for teams. Kerry is performing well and I think several teams would be better off with him behind the helm.
Remember, it only takes 1 team.

That team is the 49ers or the Bears. Or maybe the Vikings.
Those are all decent teams. KC could come in and stabilize the position, provide a winning record, and allow them to figure out what they are gonna do next as a club. That’s basically what he’s doing now for TN.

I agree for the Vikings or Bears
but I think the key factor is that he needs those supporting pieces. I just don’t believe teams are gonna be knocking down the doors trying to get this guy. If you are needing someone to manage the game and not lose it for you then I believe this would be your guy.
Out of those 4 JT came in as the only starter for the season.
I agree that KC has played very well but the talent around him has a lot to do with it. I’m not trying to knock the guy but he’s in a situation that fits him well.
Huard, Griese and Gus were all 1a options becuse the starter was just the guy they wanted to succeed, not the best option.

It seems clear to me that
Vince’s days playing for the Titans are over. Not to say that he may not appear on the field a few more times under certain circumstances, but never again as the permanent, long-term starter. The real question is whether he will end somewhere else in the NFL or out of the game completely next year. I just don’t know what happens to that huge contract if he is done.
I don't know about clear
It’s a weird situation, but I can only see a few situations where Collins is the starter next year:
- We win the Superbowl
- Fisher opens the starting job up for competition during camp and Collins wins.
- Vince retires of his own volition.
The team wont take an old starter over a young QB they believe has upside. If Collins leaves all they have to do is sign Chris Simms to an extension then we’ll have a backup for Vince that isn’t pushing 40.
I'm not so sure.
But I will say this… regardless of who else is on the roster, Chris Simms is very likely to have a job with the Titans next year. And he may well be the QB of the future, regardless of whether it’s Collins or Young under center next season.

Collins
Will be 37 next year I think. I like the guy (I LOVE him while we’re winning), but he’s not Brett Farve. Heck, Brett Farve isn’t even Brett Farve. I don’t think we could sacrifice our future next year in order to keep him around for one maybe two more years. I would much rather go with Simms.
I think Collins will only be 36 next year. Still, you may well be right.

Collins is doing his job, he isn't lighting it up, but he is
making it work and not giving games away with Int and fumbles. He has an outstanding line to protect him and a great defense to count on. He is in the best situation he could be in. Let us remember that VY had that last year as well. VYs QB rating last year wasn’t real good, it was often blamed on the receivers. The receivers were made out to be the goats, and sometimes they deserved that. However, this year with mostly the same receivers things are looking better. Is the difference the QB? Do the receivers have more confidence in Collins and are willing to work harder? Is it a better O.C.? Is it because of Chris Johnson being in the backfield? I would like to think it is all of the above.
This year there are less turnovers, more redzone production, and more passing yards. I am not here to claim that K.C. is amazing at his job, he isn’t. He does do what is asked and is helping the team win. Perhaps with more games played he will continue to improve his numbers. I would like to see the Hawk playing and see what he can do to help the team. Kerry is getting it done with receivers that most would say would not start for any other team.
Why? Why? Why?
Why does everybody keep saying that Kerry is making the receivers look better? Kerry’s completion percentage (56.6) this season is lower than Vince’s was last season (62.3)!!! Kerry is getting better performance out of the offense for several reasons, including and especially because he is turning the ball over a lot less. But, he is NOT succeeding because he is completing more passes! And, the receivers are dropping as many as ever.
PS
and don’t say it’s because Kerry is completing longer passes. Kerry’s 2008 YPA and Vince’s 2007 YPA are virtually identical (6.9 vs 6.7).
Those damned receivers short-arm 3-5 passes EVERY game!
