Regarding my MLB concerns....

I might have gone a bit overboard with my comments. Let me try to explain a little bit more why I'm concerned with about our MLB position.

I have no problem with our OLB(Bulluck and Thornton).
But based on how defensive formations are aligned, our MLB position is a liability.

A regular 4-3 formation uses 3LB(ROLB,MLB,LOLB) and 4DB(2CB,2S), which is normally what you would put against a 2 WR set with 1TE on the left and 1FB and 1RB in the back.

But once you switch to a passing formation with 3 or 4 WR set with no FB and/or TE, the defensive has to switch to a nickel, dime or quarter formation to account for the higher speed of the WRs, which means you replace the LBs with DBs.

When this happens, the OLBs are usually the ones that get replaced, meaning in the Titans case, that Thornton or/and Bulluck gets replaced by someone like Hill, Fuller or Lowry to assist in the pass protection.

But the MLB allways stays(he might get replaced a couple of plays to get rested), but he allways stays. This means Fowler or Tullock are on the field more than Bulluck and Thornton during the entire game.
Even in prevent mode, the MLB isn't taken out.

I might be an idiot on this, but I allways thought that having your best players on the field gives you the best chance to win and Bulluck/Thornton are clearly better than our MLBs.

I don't have a detailed breakdown of how the Titans line up on defence on specific formations, but from a pure football perspective, this is how formation line-up works.

This is why I'm not satisfied with our MLBs.
I don't mean to critisize at all, I just wish the best for our team to win.

I hope you understand my point and please do explain to me, if this is not how the titans defensive scheme works.

For the most
part from what I've seen our MLB comes off the field. Bulluck and Thorton are both pretty good cover guys. I think the Titans go to an extra safety usually Vincent Fuller and leave the OLBs in. Just my perspective watching games. I could be wrong. Never done much research on that.

The Titans' MLB always....
....comes off the field when they are in nickle.

which...
which is why the Titans do not invest in a high quality MLB.

hmmm...
We'll that makes me feel alot more comfortable.
I guess not being able to see the games live kind of makes it hard to know that.

Do anyone else know of other teams that do the same?

Historically, the Titans nickel D...
...has actually been its base D.  Because they're always so good against the run, it's very unusual for teams to attack the Titans in a "base" offense.  This is why Fisher will usually refer to his Nickel CB as a starter and put less emphasis on the MLB.

This year was a little different because the Titans were lousy against the run last year and then again when Haynesworth was out.  But the whole League saw the Titans stuff LT in that playoff game, which (along with D. Garrard's maturation as a passer) means that the Titans will spend almost all of next season in the nickel.
