A Look Ahead: Our First Round Pick
I think it's fairly obvious to anyone who has followed this team this year, that the Titan's most glaring need is for a big play wide reciever. This becomes especially true if the Titans are able to re-sign Haynesworth, and if Pac-Man can finally get his act together. Seing as our first round pick this year will hopefully be near the very end of the round, Mario Manningham and some of the other 'electric' wide recievers will probably be off the board. This leaves the Titans with two real options that I feel would fit this team the best, those being Adarius Bowman (OSU) and Limus Sweed (Texas). I know that a lot of people are in love with Sweed because of the Texas connection with Vince and some of his highlight reel catches, but after looking at some film of Bowman and watching a bit of the Insight bowl I'm pretty convinced that he can and will be a star in the NFL.
Firstly, The Measurables:
Height: 6'4" - Weight: 220lbs - 40 Time: 4.53 - 40 Low: 4.48 - 40 High: 4.62
These numbers put Bowman right in the mold of the young big wide recievers that have been having a such success in the NFL as of late. In fact, Bowman is physically almost identical to Marques Colston, Brandon Marshall, and Dwayne Bowe.
Colston - 6'4" 231 lbs, 4.55 on the 40
Marshall - 6'4" 230 lbs, 4.52 on the 40
Bowe - 6'3" 221lbs, 4.51 on the 40
It's no secret that these young recievers have had standout careers thus far, and all indications point to their future success. Bowman looks to follow in their footsteps, and I would really rather the Titans didn't pass on him as they have those three recievers.
Secondly, The Intangibles:
Adarius Bowman has two other unique and key features that work heavily favor of him being a star in the NFL. The first of these is his blocking ability. After watching the first half of the Insight Bowl, I saw Bowman hold blocks on corners, safeties, and linebackers with an effectiveness that reminded me a lot of Hines Ward, and seeing as how much this team likes to run the ball, having an effective blocking wide reciever on the outside is an invaluable asset. Another key factor is the fact that his wide recievers coach is the same man who coached Randy Moss at Marshall. While this may seem like an insignificant detail, it must be remembered that Randy Moss came into the league as one of the most NFL ready recievers that the game has ever seen. He posted record breaking rookie touchdown numbers with 17, and was third in the league with over 1300 yards that year. While it is unlikely that Bowman would produce numbers quite like that, it is at least helpful to know that he has a coach who knows how to get recievers ready for the league.
So, come on Mike Reinfeldt, get us a play maker!

Haha, because that would mean..
Deshaun Jackson
Heck NO!
Plus I like Gage, R. Williams and think that Williams can really become a very good WR.
Don't you
We need a WR pretty bad. Gage and Roydell are descent 2 and 3 WR. We need a number 1. I would rather sign a good FA WR that has proved something than draft 1 anyway. I wouldn't mind seeing Fred Davis the TE from USC on our team. Vince could really use another TE. Davis and Scaife would make a nice combo.

Hopefully David Givins will do something at some point.
I say either sign a Wr in FA, there are plenty avail this year or draft one in the 1st rd. Go DT in the 2nd rd. and pick TE in the 3rd if Fred Davis is there. Don't know what rd he is projected to go.

needs
--OG...gotta replace maybe both
--TE...this is higher than most think
--DT...this year showed that DL is the most important positions on the field
--DE...ditto
--RB...one with speed to offset LenDale the Whale
So I count 6 definite needs....if we hope to nab 2 in FA, then we will need to get the other 4 in the draft....
in the first round, I have no idea what position i would target....
anyone think NE will trade the 7th overall pick for Pacman Jones......hahahahaha
You have to address WR in FA.
Assuming Chris Brown is gone next year, I think you take a chance on a lower-round RB. You still have LenDale and Chris Henry, and Quinton Ganther is good enough that with the other needs... well, you gotta take a chance somewhere. That is where I'd take it. On the other hand, if they could somehow get D. McFadden from Arkansas, that'd be worth a lot IMHO in the current offense.
I'd rank another DT higher than DE and make a real effort to re-sign Odom.
I'm not too conversant with the top TE's, but I've heard there might be a couple of good ones in the 2nd-3rd.
Anybody else?

Agree
I've already come to grips with the idea we will probably end up with the same HBs next season. Chris Brown hasn't shown enough over the course of the year to entice anyone to sign him. So we will probably end up bringing him back again at a cheap price. I thought Henry showed good ability before the suspension. And I think Lendale has done a good job. If he lost a few more pounds, he could be really good.
I also agree with Zackman that TE is a bigger need than most think.

i think there is a really good chance there will be 2 new OG's next year....could be in house (amano and one of our current backups/practice squad players) or we go get one in the draft or FA....
but we will be one of the teams leading the pack in terms of going after OG....
I hope we

Yeah, but
Rosenhaus is exactly the reason....
The Titans have Amano, Loper and Leroy Harris, the center you are talking about, who will probably all get a shot at guard next season. Mawae will probably only play for 1 or 2 more years and when he retires Amano or Harris will slide inside and play center.
I have nothing better
DT
Justin Harrell- Garbage
John McCargo- Not sure how he has been, but cannot be that good. Haven't heard too much about him.
Alan Branch- Has done nothing
Travis Johnson- Hasn't been bad, but hasn't been top 20 worthy. Havin his best season in his 3rd year. Wouldn't want to wait that long.
Mike Patterson- Solid player.
WR
Matt Jones- Sucks
Robert Meachem- Hasn't done S#$%
Santonio Holmes- A good threat. Wouldn't mind having him. Better than anyone we have.
Dwayne Bowe- Beast
Craig Davis- Not enough balls to go around. I still think he's also better than anyone we have.
Anthony Gonzalez- Better than anyone we have.
Mark Clayton- Crappy QB play in a crappy offense. Still has put up descent numbers.
Roddy White- Broke out with pro bowl type season on a horrid team. Don't want to wait till 3rd season though.
Reggie Brown- Solid player. Still probably better than anyone we have.

As interesting as it is to ponder Chad in TN...
And then, too: Thigpen, Yancy; Givens, David; etc. The list is too painful to recount.
I see Chad Johnson going somewhere like Atlanta, Washingto, or San Fransisco. Those are the kind of clubs that would pay his kind of money.

Just out of pure spite
They get what they ask for and you can't always go home. Maybe they can just roll around in their money and think about what could have been.
You are probably right BBB
But I still won't change my mind about Mason.
As far as going WR or DT in the first round..
We are after all 27th in pass yards and 32nd in pass TDs..
I think those numbers scare me a lot more than needing another DT next to Fat Al.
This is
I would also really like to draft the QB that is throwing all these passes in these clips!

Warren Sapp plans to retire,
sorry if i posted that twice.
No way
Worse piece of garbage to ever play in the NFL.
Ever.
I would rather have Rodney Harrison on the team
And I just threw up in my mouth just typing that.
