Travis Henry Signs with the Broncos

This according to The Tennessean.  That sound you hear is Titan fans jumping into the Cumberland River.  He got $12 million guaranteed from the Broncos while the Titans were offering $8.

I guess I was really, really wrong on this one.  I didn't think there is anyway the Titans would let him walk.  I don't know where they go from here but they now have a big need at RB to go along with DE, CB, S, and WR.  Not exactly the offseason we were all hoping for so far.

Update [2007-3-5 20:15:12 by Jimmy]:BREAKING NEWS: The Titans will host 2 free agents on Tuesday. Although, Reinfeldt would not say who they are. There is life in the front office.

I guess
we are going to find out if Lendale is really better than R.Bush.

Never fear
The Titans signed Kerry Collins.  Here is a quote from Reinfeldt:
Maybe more importantly, we also trust that if he is called upon to win games, he certainly can do that."
Could someone get him some tape from last year?

Our Season is saved
We can all rest now

K.Collins
really fills big needs for us. He has great speed at  corner, we won't even need to sign a safety to cover for his ass. We could also put him at DE, he can rush the passer and stop the run. At halfback he is a monster one of the best stiff arms in the league ala Travis Henry. He fills a great whole in our return game, You know since we won't have Adam or B.Wade back. And his specialty throwing the deep pass and running under the ball and catching it. How many players can do things like that when they are called upon to win games?  Now we can even put Vince at halfback for portions of the game, when Collins is called upon.

That may as well have been M.Rienfeldt's statement.  Do you think Rienfeldt is still secretly working for the Seahawks and sabotaging the Titans?

Do i smell....
Quarterback controversy... things are going from bad to worse around here holy geez

by Titans Fan 10 on Mar 5, 2007 4:03 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

if our GM thinks Collins can win any games
then I would like whatever he is smoking...

like jimmy said, please give him same game tape...

hell, while we are at it, we need to highlight Peter Sirmon, Lamont Thompson and Reynaldo Hill in those game tapes as well...

the next thing I know, they are going to be saying:

"Maybe more importantly, we also trust that Lamont Thompson is good enough he will help us win some games this year."

My Fellow
My Fellow Titans Fans. Let's just relax a bit. it's not end all be all.  How do we know that last year wasn't Henry's last hoohaa?  Two years prior to last year he didn't do crap'ola!

We've lost two guys and you are ready to shut the whole team down!

let's think about what we lost and let's ask the question.  Did Henry make VY better or did VY make Henry better?  Or maybe it was the O-line that made Henry look that good. Henry had a 4.5 yard avg. White had an 4.0.  Stay healthy and he's a better RB then Henry is.

it will be ok!!

by white02slpss on Mar 5, 2007 4:41 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

Yeah, for real...
Last time I checked we're just all arm-chair GMs so let's just see how things play out before FREAKING OUT!!!

Good Point...
but i just don't think i like the way Reinfeldt is handling things thus far... he needs to go out and get nick harper and one of the veteran RB's out there because Lendale can't do it alone

by Titans Fan 10 on Mar 5, 2007 4:48 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

Big Bad Bulluck you kill me.
That was the funniest thing I've read in a while. That was truely great... I'm not joking or being sarcastic.

I'm upset that the Titans couldn't get him back. I really thought that they would. But I still have two RB's that I would rather have that are very much a possability. 1 is Willis McGahee of course... and another one is someone who nobody has really mentioned..... Michael Turner. Why not? Offfer him starter money and I'm sure the Chargers won't be able to match. He's got to be better then Len Dale White... who I really only see as a 3rd down back.

I'm still not going to panic... but that sucks. SCREW YOU BRONCOS! I now have a reason to hate you! That'll put you up there with Baltimore and Indianapolis.

randy moss
can we go after him? maybe he could teach pac to limit the felonies to one per offseason?

by longtitan on Mar 5, 2007 6:35 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

Young2Bennett
Thank you, but how can you hate the Ravens? I love the Ravens, the only thing they are missing is Eddie George.  They are the Titans-North.

I think W.McGahee would be a great fit here, just depends on what we have to give up. I'm not totally sold on M.Turner he has never really carried much of the load at all. I think if I had a choice I'd rather see White than him. Or see them maybe shoulder the load together.

White02slpss-As far as Vince making Henry better or Henry making Vince better. The answer is probably a little bit of both. Obviously you have to respect the roll out w/Vince so it freezes the DE's and sometime the OLB's from just diving down inside to stop the run.  But, with Henry you had to respect the play-action.  Henry actually made a make-shift O-line look pretty good. He broke tackle after tackle for his share of long runs, and had a good amount called back this season. And I watched every game and didn't see Vince break 1 tackle for him. If Henry had a 4.5 and White had a 4.0 avg. then what is the basis for White being better? Healthy or not Henry averaged more ypc.

Focus on the Draft?
that's the only thing i can think of .. we are young and re-building and Collins has won a Super Bowl (hasn't he?) and is probably willing to continue mentoring VY where I had been high on Brad Johnson coming aboard, but he doesn't "fit" due to an ego problem (that's where your QB controversy would be, but not now). Collins seems to be cooperative and helpful (while McNair is also helping VY, his "Son" - thanks Steve) and they may be using Collins as a "hands on" QB 'Coach' of sorts but agreed! WATCH SOME TAPE! And before that, merely review Collins high INT ratio/history without even thinking about the first few games he opened for us; but in all fairness Kerry hadn't gotten in sync with them due to the sudden hire-on and agreed to just be "thrown out there" and maintained a good attitude despite heavy criticism ..

But BBB's entry is indeed HILARIOUS about Reinfeldt  :-) yet BBB once again made a good point but it's sorta "creepy", isn't it? But
maybe Fisher has turned into Bellichick, and that's a Good Thing ie. keep those cards held close to your vest?! hmmmmm ...

we have so many young "unknowns" that when we have time, perhaps review their college history of play (and potential) that only the Coaches know since we aren't "on staff" ..  just a thought.

just trying to ease pain .. trying to look at it like "the glass is half full" and remain optimistic ..

but it's great to see that ppl really care; i'm "down-under" in Rural TN right now and the good ole boys ain't happy .. they are PSL owners and season ticket buyers (Big deal to them!) and they are very disappointed .. it's hard on me putting out fires everywhere but in my usual way I will do my best to comfort them since they don't have the luxury of mutiple job opportunities and are trying their damn-dest to be supportive and be devoted to their Pro team 'cause a 4 hour commute attending home games is like going to NY to them - Bless their hearts, sigh ..

but I presented the fact (and had to be honest) that the "Haters" on the tennessean forum (the vulchers) want them to get discouraged and sell their PSL's at "rock bottom prices" which i learned Sunday morning while perusing their comments and needless to say, rural TN ain't happy about that possibility; but I have warned them which was MOST UNPLEASANT.

I Hate the Ravens
It's to the point where I can tolerate them now, but that is only because they do have so many Titans players. But I haven't really got over when we were bitter rivals in the AFC Central and those tough playoff games.

Speaking of former UT Runningbacks
Isn't Jamal Lewis Still available?  Someone look around, I think Travis Stephens is still pretty fresh, as is Gerald Riggs, Jr.  Personally, I liked Jarrett Payton, and thought it was too bad he didn't get a shot (he did win the World Bowl afterall, and as we all know, "World" is way bigger than "Super").

They also might be wating for:

FA pricing to come down ..

i think they have their draft picks ready .. jaws theme playing .. 2 months to go and a ton of phone calls prior ..

good idea to keep a sense of humor!

and speaking of that I think I will go out and use the light of the full moon to change the fuses in my lawnmower

:-)

Maybe after that
we could look at Reggie Cobb.

Jamal Lewis is the last person the Titans need.  He is done and he has a few off the field problems.

would definitely win the Sense Of Humor Bowl.

Just so you know...
Stallworth is one of the free agents coming in on tuesday... He is meeting with the Patriots Monday and if he doesn't sign with them he's headed straight to us, so i don't i kinda like the big play ability he has we'll see how it works out

Stallworth
If we sign Stallworth, my skepticism of our new GM will grow...No need to bring in someone else in the substance abuse program...

draft
ourlads scouting has a new 3 round mock draft up...

http://www.ourlads.com/2007nflmockdraft.cfm

round 1 - patrick willis (lb)
round 2 - cb from pitt
round 3 - dt from nc state

Draft x's 2
If the draft goes exactly according to Mel Kiper's Big Board... which it won't.... here is #19

19. Charles Johnson*, DE, Georgia (6-2, 280) | previous: 13
Not only gifted from a pure talent standpoint, but he also has the work ethic to match. Johnson is active, alert and extremely productive.

by Young2Bennett on Mar 5, 2007 11:48 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

BBB
Henry had way more chances to run then White.  If you run and run and only get 4.0 with limited carries then you don't have that chance to break off the big run for 20 plus yards. which in turn drives your avg up.

Don't get me wrong. Henry was good for us.  But he isn't the whole team.

Someone mentioned about getting Stallworth. I guess that could actually work out.  When he get's out of Rehab we can sign him and then Pac would have someone in house to Deal with.  If it's in house then he is less likely to get caught.  LOL!!!

by white02slpss on Mar 6, 2007 6:21 AM CST reply actions   0 recs

I don't
think Henry was the whole team. I think he was a key player.

by Big Bad Bulluck on Mar 6, 2007 9:57 AM CST reply actions   0 recs

Look
Look at it this way.  if white doesn't cut it. or we can't sign another "decent" back then it will help in Youngs development as a passer much quicker.  Since he will have more chances to throw!

Keep a positivie spin on it all!

I have a pretty good Idea already!  LOL

This might be a reach.  But you might feel like I did way back when, When it was the Cody Carlson Experiment!  I was like WHAT?????????

Hope, Bulluck, Thorton B.Jones and KVB are the only things keeping me going right now.
