Tennessee Titans @ Denver Broncos Monday Night Football Open Thread

VS.

NUTS AND BOLTS

Date: November 19th, 2007
Time: 7:30 p.m. Central
Location: Invesco Field at Mile High, Denver, CO
Records: Titans (6-3) Broncos (4-5)
Weather: 59 degrees, 0% chance of showers, wind SW 9 mph
TV: ESPN
Radio: 103.3 WKDF
Broncos Coverage: Mile High Report and The Rocky Mountain News

This is a huge game for the Titans.  A win would keep them tied with the Jacksonville Jaguars and one game ahead of the Cleveland Browns in the wild card race.  Vince Young has always shined in the national spotlight.  When the Titans played the New Orleans Saints in week 3, Vince was 14 of 22 for 164 yards and 2 TDs.  Hopefully he will put up a similar perfomance tonight.  I got this thread up early so we can go ahead and get the discussion started.  Be sure and check back throughout the day for updates and during the game for some good in-game discussion.

GO TITANS!!

Update [2007-11-19 20:36:40 by Jimmy]: Haynesworth, Harper and Benji Olson are all out for tonight's game. Travis Henry is also out for the Broncos.

Let's Go
Titans!  (and selvin young)

I hope Mister Monday night has another great game!

also!  who the heck are we holding that extra roster spot for?

by white02slpss on Nov 19, 2007 1:50 PM CST reply actions

Go Titans!
I'm guessing the roster spot is for Mike Williams, Pacman Jones, or another DT, and failing any of that, they'll eventually promote a special teams player from the Practice Squad.

Man, I am nervous about this game.  If Big Al can't play again... ouch!

You
could be right.  unlike them to hold open a roster spot so long.

Anyways I think next years 08 1st round pick should be on a DT to pair with Albert (after we resign him)

by white02slpss on Nov 19, 2007 3:09 PM CST up reply actions

some one like
Frank Okam, Texas
Red Bryant, Texas A&M
would be nice (i'm thinking we get to pick after 25)
both 6'5 320+
opponent would have to run outside :P

by LastSd on Nov 19, 2007 3:18 PM CST up reply actions

that is
what I'm thinking.

don't get me wrong! Starks and Brown are good players.  Great in a rotation.  but if we can add another above Avg motor and Talent next to Albert then that just opens up KVB and Odom/La Boy even more.

It's just something I was pondering today

by white02slpss on Nov 19, 2007 3:21 PM CST up reply actions

I'd
Say it's 98% not for #32,  He could very well win his appeal through the Union.  doubt it. but it could happen I guess!

If you think about it we will have two roster spots if Henrys suspension goes through!

by white02slpss on Nov 19, 2007 3:22 PM CST up reply actions

i say
franchise tag him if we can't resign him to long term
if he doesn't repeat pro-bowl level play again than we might be able to resign him for cheaper price year after (not that i want this to happen but back up plan ?)

by LastSd on Nov 19, 2007 3:24 PM CST up reply actions

sorry
i was talking about Albert, put my reply on wrong place

by LastSd on Nov 19, 2007 3:25 PM CST up reply actions

Will Haynesworth
be out there tonight?  Has anyone got any news on this?  Also, has LenDale been healthy this week?

by BenP on Nov 19, 2007 3:17 PM CST reply actions

Haynesworth out
told Fisher he only felt 75 percent

by nvemvp23 on Nov 19, 2007 5:49 PM CST up reply actions

Is that official?
I can't find it online.
Titans Blogger at Music City Miracles

by Jimmy on Nov 19, 2007 5:55 PM CST up reply actions

Reported
Haynesworth being out was reported on ESPN. That's not good news. I hope our defensive line plays better than they did versus the Jags. Beginning to think Grady Jackson would've been a wise pick up.

by theologic on Nov 19, 2007 6:05 PM CST up reply actions

even if he is in
i don't think he can dominate as usual..
he didn't practice for last 2 weeks
i know 50% Haynesworth is better than our other 100% DT but don't have to rush him back and make his injury more serious

by LastSd on Nov 19, 2007 3:21 PM CST up reply actions

is Hill our starting CB
if harper can't play ?
maybe Fuller will play better than Hill and we can use someone else on nickel back position ?

by LastSd on Nov 19, 2007 3:27 PM CST reply actions

It
sounds as if Hill will start and Herndon will be active

by white02slpss on Nov 19, 2007 3:29 PM CST up reply actions

harper and hill
If Hill starts tonight, he will be a disaster..

we should move Griffin to CB while harper is out and put lowry back at FS...

by zackmann on Nov 19, 2007 3:40 PM CST reply actions

i wouldn't move griffin
i think we need griffin in FS since Culter throws long ones often
also if albert can't go than its better griffin help the run defense from safety position than corner back

by LastSd on Nov 19, 2007 3:44 PM CST up reply actions

i just have no confidence in Hill
none...zero...zilch...

Hill's first play last week, he was beaten deep, but the ball was overthrown...

i want to be wrong, but I bet Hill gives up 2 TD's...at least...

harper getting hurt (or concussion) is the exact scenario that supports leaving Griffin as a CB...

of course, Lowry playing bad happened before Harper got hurt, so we moved Griffin to FS....

by zackmann on Nov 19, 2007 3:53 PM CST up reply actions

Hill
I agree, Hill is usually a day late and a dollar short!

by coler0kw on Nov 19, 2007 6:22 PM CST up reply actions

ESPN

Haynesworth--Coach decided to hold im out
Harper--No go
AND

Olsen????? Out

Go Titans!

by gramsey712 on Nov 19, 2007 6:28 PM CST reply actions

Bad Timing
We've been fortunate all year with injuries. Now is a real bad time for this to happen. However, if we can pull through tonite and get everyone healthy by next week I will feel better.

by theologic on Nov 19, 2007 6:40 PM CST up reply actions

I didn't really know....
....Olsen was in question.  I guess Eugene Amano gets the start.
Titans Blogger at Music City Miracles

by Jimmy on Nov 19, 2007 6:45 PM CST up reply actions

I guess
I guess it's probably his back. I can't see Olson playing too many more seasons after this one.

by theologic on Nov 19, 2007 6:48 PM CST up reply actions

good vibe
i got a good feeling about the titans tonight.  vince does well in high profile games and i think this game fits that bill.
i have a feeling their troubles of getting into the endzone will disapear tonight and will have alot better performance then we did last weeks vs the jags.   i dought we will see 3 stright 3 and outs like last week.
turnovers are always a concern, i hope vince keeps the ball tucked away when he runs tonight and has good decesions.  alot of turn overs could be our downfall but i feel the team is up after their loss last week.

by dentureboy on Nov 19, 2007 7:21 PM CST reply actions

Our defense has to step up right here. We need a 4 and out.

lol
I guess that would be acceptable.

MNB <--- Monday Night Beers.

by Big Bad Bulluck on Nov 19, 2007 8:22 PM CST reply actions

Recievers
Our recievers are too inconsistent. That's the problem. Who knows what would've happened if catches that ball earlier.

by theologic on Nov 19, 2007 8:24 PM CST reply actions

Does anyone
have Tivo? Was that a Catch?
I wasn't so sure.

took Timeout. Good time to take a look

by Big Bad Bulluck on Nov 19, 2007 8:26 PM CST reply actions

VY looks really good tonite. I am feeling a comeback and win tonite.

I am really enjoying watching VY throw tonite. If Haynesworth was in I think this wouldn't be even close to a game.

Ugh
If our defense can learn to stop somebody we'll be in this game.

by theologic on Nov 19, 2007 8:56 PM CST reply actions

We have the worst receivers....
....in the history of football.

In full disclosure, the throw to Scaife has got to be better.

Titans Blogger at Music City Miracles

by Jimmy on Nov 19, 2007 8:57 PM CST reply actions

I agree
However, with the game Vince is having I'm not going to nitpick. Plus, alot of NFL recievers make that catch. Not knocking Scaife, but other QB's get more breaks than our does.

by theologic on Nov 19, 2007 8:59 PM CST up reply actions

i concur...
although that was a catch by scaife..

by b3tts32 on Nov 19, 2007 8:59 PM CST up reply actions

Coach
Fisher predicted something like this would happen sometime. That was the reason he gave for not calling the timout in a previous game.

by theologic on Nov 19, 2007 9:00 PM CST up reply actions

YAY RB!
Great kick with a questionable set-up.

by GingerSnapsTN on Nov 19, 2007 8:58 PM CST reply actions

i just want to say
nyah nyah nyah nyah nyah!  you're a timeout turkey.

and, isn't it ironic that our offense is home but now the defense is out doing early christmas shopping?

by numbertenox on Nov 19, 2007 9:00 PM CST reply actions

Meh
I still don't. I just wish we would've gotten somebody else.

You know who I keep forgetting about? Givens. Wonder if he'll ever play again...

hope #32 comes back next season. SO WE CAN PUT HIS ASS AT WR!

by Big Bad Bulluck on Nov 19, 2007 9:02 PM CST reply actions

heh...
Now that I can agree with. Althought, we could probably use him at corner tonite.

by theologic on Nov 19, 2007 9:03 PM CST up reply actions

oh yeah and also
were there four drops in that half?  wow.  if kerry collins was throwing i bet the receivers would have caught those balls.

ugh,,,just got back from the bar watching the game
we don't look like a playoff team tonight...'

we can get no pass rush without Albert....upgrading the DLine is still a priority....

our WR's might be the worst group ever assembled...

Hill and Lowry are liabilities....

our defense is good when all 11 guys are solid...just 1 weak link and we fall apart...

pray...we need lots of prayer to make the playoffs, unfortunately...

one more thing
how did our special teams get so bad?

can you remember the last time we had a good return on punt or kick offs?  it has been multiple weeks....

our offense isn't very effective starting inside the 10 yard line...

even on kick off returns we can't get it past the 20...taking a touchback is actually the smart move by our kick off return team...

and our coverage teams are giving up huge gains all the time....

special teams (minus our kicker) needs serious work....

by zackmann on Nov 19, 2007 10:39 PM CST reply actions

one great side effect of haynesworth being so dominant is that doubling KVB is more difficult...

I missed tonight's game on ESPN.  From reading the comments here though, it seems like we needed Albert Haynesworth and the receivers sucked.  Did Vince play well? I saw he had two interceptions.  There have been comments he is not very accurate.  What's the consensus?

V.young
played pretty good, one of the best game this season
a lot of drop from receivers
also he scrambled nicely
1st pick was good play by Denver secondary
2nd pick didn't really matter because game was already over

yup
lots of drops by receivers on some key passes - still a good night for VY who threw for his career highest passing yards.

The two picks were not the ugliest ones I've seen him throw.  One was just a hair off into tight coverage (and the receiver could have fought for it more) the other was a busted play and I don't think he saw the defender lurking when he threw it from inside a lot of traffic.  ESPN actually spent a lot of air time during and after the game commenting that VY was playing well.

Still plenty of room for VY improvement, obviously, but tonights woes were entirely on the receivers and the defense.  No penetration by defensive line, poor tackling.

vince is the man.
if lendale dosnt loose 40 pounds i would make him ride the bench.   hes not that good and is slow to the hole  and fumbles. after he gains 2 yards on first down hes good for nothing. only reason hes here is cus of norm chow.
brandon jones is also useless droping just about everything thrown to him.  rodell williams should have made that catch for a touchdown to
whats up with the defence?  get rid of hill if at all possible he missed that tackle for a touchdown and got burnt for long gains numerus times.  whats up with this team, only bright spot is vince young, his skill postions players on offence just suck.  the recivers are scared to catch the ball they need to go back to pop warner cus they cant hack the nfl.
if i was jeff fisher i would be pissed,  i hope hes reaming their asses right now for lack of focus and intensity its a sad day for tennesse fans.  another let down in a sting of let downs by a group of people on the team that are stupid and have no drive to win.
vince did good thats the only bright spot of the entire game. special teams sucked. defence sucked.  recivers sucked. running game sucked. just about everything sucked except vince.
we should keep the offenceive line they do good also  bo scaife, get rid of all the recivers along with fat boy lendale and if troupe cant play up to his potential get rid of him to cus he brings everybody down.
on defence keep kyle. albert. bulluck and hope and thorton and griffin and nick harper and finnigan but get punk man back to take one of thier spots cus they are giving up to many big plays and make eaither finnigan ride the bench or harper  everybody else get rid of they suck on defence.  damn brown and all his off sides last week when the ball is right in front of his face is just stupid. odem is good i like him and laboy they are c plus players odem being better in my openion.
whats up with fisher not throwing the red flag on vinces touchdown?  if it wasnt for denver we would be 10 points less cus of their time out calls.
this to shall pass i hope,  sorry for the negativity but iam disapointed, there is always next week i guess.

Kind of looks
like the team all of the critics were saying we were all off-season. After not adding any help for THE MAN.
