Vince Young is Poised for a Great Game on Sunday

There is a very interesting article in The Tennessean this morning about Vince Young's "bounce back" games.  Vince's worst 3 games of the season last year were the 1st game against Indianapolis, the game in Philadelphia, and the 2nd Jacksonville game.  Vince followed the 1st Indy game with a solid performance in a win against the Washington Redskins.  He followed the Jacksonville game with an amazing comeback win against the Giants and followed the 2nd Jaguars game with a win against Buffalo.

This is the kind of thing that the Vince haters don't understand or talk about.  In baseball you hear a lot of talk about how a pitcher's record following a loss by his team.  Certain pitchers are considered stoppers while others are not.  Vince Young is a stopper.  He always rallies from bad performances to put his team in a position to win.  Again, the best thing about this is the Titans won this game, so Vince is not being a stopper for the team but only for himself.

That is the reason that I am so excited to see what Vince will do here.  He has the ability to raise his game when he and his team need it the most.  Not every quarterback can do that.  We are going to go through some growing pains with a young quarterback.  It makes me feel a lot better to know that our quarterback is going to have a career performance to follow his off performances.  It should keep the Titans from suffering through long losing streaks.

I don't
even think we should be making excuses for VY. We won the game and I am not worried about him playing that bad again. We are 3-1 and our defense is ranked #5 in terms of stats on Yahoo Sports.

Sunday is just gonna be another Sunday and VY will have done his stretches this time he's ready to play.

That wasn't making excuses
It just proves that he follows up his bad games with really good ones.

In addition
to what you are saying. There are few QBs that go without bad games. Manning and Brady to me are the only constantly on point QBs in the league. Palmer probably right behind them. Just look at Romo last night. One of the most important things that stands out in my mind that seperates him from guys like Romo, Rivers, and Cutler is that on a bad day Vince can do so much more than any other QB. The only problem I had with him on Sunday is that he didn't use his abilities. It was almost like he was feeding into the 60 minutes type questions. I just want Vince to do him and he will be great. He follows up well because he wants to be great, and he doesn't seem like he can accept being any less. He not only cannot accept his own failure, but he also cannot accept his team failing. That is why I think he is a stopper. Very good analogy. I am an Indian fan and I'm really happy not to see any more Andy Pettite, he is a stopper. And guys like that are hard to come by.
